Who We Are
The Burcon Group is a full-implementation consulting firm headquartered in Southern California. Our consultants are experienced professionals who apply proven project management, application implementation and upgrade methodologies to ensure the delivered solution meets your business needs. We put the pieces together to provide a high quality, low cost alternative for your organization's implementation project.


What We Do
We provide a full line of services designed to help you increase productivity, reduce costs and improve return on investment for your IT investment dollars.
Project Management
Our consultants are experienced in managing both multiple and single team engagements and utilize both macro and micro management techniques. We understand the importance of managing scope to deliver a project on time and on budget.

At the beginning of each engagement, we develop a detailed task-level project plan utilizing MS Project or Project Workbench. To keep the project on track, we hold regularly scheduled project team meetings to update progress and add new tasks as required. Status reports are provided to our clients on a weekly basis.

Process Reengineering and workflow
Because we understand how business processes work, our consultants can provide excellent reengineering support to our clients. Our consultants are experienced at asking the hard questions about the organization, its goals and the means to achieve those goals. We examine the existing processes to determine where opportunities for improvement through redesign will provide significant benefits.
 
Requirements Analysis
To provide a solution that meets our clients’ needs, our consultants utilize a formal methodology for collecting and analyzing business requirements. Our toolbox includes questionnaires for each business area that are completed through interviews with the appropriate personnel and through JAD (joint application development) sessions. All requirements are documented, prioritized and cross-referenced to confirm coverage during solution design.
 
System Implementation
The Burcon Group is experienced in implementing a variety of systems including Oracle ERP, Oracle and PeopleSoft HRMS and various CRM applications. Utilizing a standard methodology including Planning and Analysis, Design and Documentation, and Testing and Deployment, we work with your project team to develop a solution that meets your business needs.

Our consultants are skilled in combining business and industry knowledge with an in-depth knowledge of your business and our methodology to deliver a quality solution. We put the pieces together right the first time, every time.

Training and education
A new system is not a success unless the users adopt and use the system to complete their work. The process of user acceptance begins at the onset of every project. Our process involves early end-user application training and involves users in requirements analysis, fit analysis and system testing. In addition, we have developed standard training documents and presentations that can be customized and delivered in hands-on training classes to prepare our clients for the transition to the new system.
 
User documentation and procedures
Using a combination of customized process flows, quick reference guides and desk procedures, our consultants prepare our clients for daily use of the new system. These documents, in conjunction with the training manuals, shorten the learning curve and improve productivity for your staff. Other benefits include consistency in the use of the system and the ability to quickly and easily train new staff on the processes and system.

How We Do It

We specialize in putting the pieces together by utilizing standard methodologies and by leveraging our in-depth business and industry knowledge. 

Standard Methodology

Our consultants utilize a standard methodology to implement quality solutions, on time and on budget. The phases of our methodology are Planning and Analysis, Design and Documentation and Testing and Deployment. Activities associated with each phase are:

  Planning and Analysis – project team orientation, business process reengineering, application training, requirements analysis, and package fit analysis.
  Design and Documentation – application model design, archive and reporting requirements, acceptance test plan design, procedural and training documentation.
  Testing and Deployment – system configuration, data conversion, functional and integration testing, implementation of reengineered processes, user training, transition, go-live and post-production support.

R3 Workshop™ (Rapid Requirements Review)

Our R3 Workshop™ is designed to identify your high-level business requirements and prepare a scope document, high-level project plan and implementation proposal. This week long workshop, facilitated by one of our consultants, kickstarts the implementation process and allows the project team to begin configuring the system for initial analysis and testing.

The R3 Workshop™ consists of four days dedicated to the gathering of requirements, one-half day to prepare the documents and one-half day to present the findings to your executive team.

Experience

We've worked on projects in many different industries which allows us to better understand your business needs.

High Tech Companies

Managed the implementation of Oracle HRMS systems (R11 & R10.7SC) for several high tech companies. The projects involved interfaces to third-party payroll systems, as well as other Oracle applications. All sites required salary administration, benefits administration, and compensation tracking, in addition to the standard HR functionality.

Higher Education

Managed the Implementation Team for a world class, higher education institution. The full implementation consisted of the following R10.7 NCA applications: Financials, (GL, AP, AR, PO, FA, PA, Grants), Distribution (INV, OE, BOM, COST), Human Resources (HR, BEN, PAY), Self-Service Web Apps (Web Employees, Web Customers, Web Suppliers) and the Exeter Student System.

Music Industry (Manufacturing / Distribution)

Implemented Oracle’s full suite of GUI (10.7 Smart Client) applications: Financial (General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable), Order Fulfillment (Order Entry, Inventory, Bill of Materials, Sales Compensation), Inventory Replenishment (Cost Management, Purchasing), and Human Resources for a leader in the music industry.

Financial Corporation

Implemented PeopleSoft HR, Benefits Admin, & Payroll (Client Server/Windows NT) at a major financial corporation.

Public Sector Water District

Implemented Oracle Government Financials at a public sector water district.

Entertainment Studio

Facilitated the consolidation of business requirements and produced user guides for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger systems for a major entertainment studio.  Conducted end-user training on standard and customized applications.
